A high powered rifle went off and ripped Martin's neck wide open and he bled out on the balcony in Memphis. Today we celebrate his birth. I normally try to find humor in my posts but there is none today. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated and when I look at the state of the world today, his dream is still trapped in a nightmare.

I have hope just as he did. I know the power of the human spirit. But we have King Day sales and places that still to this day do not recognize him and eventhough there is a memorial in Washington, DC we have Senators and Congressman that disrespect our first Black President and the First Lady by talking about her gluteus maximus.

Really?

Black folk are in worse shape than they were then. Unemployment rates, health care, education, housing you names it, the stats are worse. Then you have the Congressional Black Caucus that I don't think have passed anything since Hector was a pup and he's an old dog. What the hell is going on?

To my people on this day I ask that you take a look at your own life and remember our ancestors that always knew the future would be better because they would make it so. Rememer the daily humiliation Black people endured to make a way for our parents. Remember your parents and family that sacrificed to send you to college or support they have given you. For all the Black folk with wealth, it was built on the backs of folk that look just like you so don't forget where you came from because slavery gave this country a heads up and a headstart.

Speaking of support, I can't wait to go see "RedTails" this week. I commend George Lucas for taking a stand against Hollyweird to make a movie with an all Black cast. Eventhough the film industry used Black exploitation films in the 70's to get back on its feet, they don't think we are worthy now. Please support the film and show them wrong. Black Hollywood, where you at?

To all my sisters and brothers from another mother, know that the same foot on my neck has been on yours too, but you were taught otherwise. Now America is having a Black experience and maybe now more will see the truth or do the typical thing and fall for the racism even more because they would rather blame someone else than face the truth that all of us are in the same boat.

Happy Birthday Brother Martin! You gave the ultimate sacrifice and we love you. My question now is, what are we willing to sacrifice and what are we going to do to prove your death was not in vain?
